RiCh Music

where it all Began...

Founded in 2002 by Ulster Orchestra musicians, Ricky Matson & Chris Blake, RiChmusicNI has grown from intimate sessions at Oakwood Special School to large-scale perforamances at Belfast Waterfront Hall. Now a registered charity since 2024, RiChmusicNI is a leader in innovative music education for people with additional needs across Northern Ireland.

Our team of dedicated professional musicians and educators is passionate about making music accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability.

The RiChmusicNI method

Our approach combines storytelling, performance, and tailored musical arrangements to engage students actively in music-making. Through adaptive teaching techniques, we empower students to participate alongside professional musicians, fostering creativity, confidence, and joy in every session.

RiChmusicNI vs. Music Therapy:

While music therapy focuses on clinical outcomes and therapeutic goals, RiChmusicNI emphasises music education and participation. Our goal is to teach music in a way that is accessible and enjoyable, encouraging artistic expression and personal growth rather than addressing specific health-related outcomes.
